Against all odds in life, a 26 year old man is determined to walk the most important yardage in his life. After a life altering tackle on the college football field, Chris Norton was told he would never move again. For the past seven years , Chris Norton was confined to a wheel chair after the football accident that left him paralyzed from the neck down. However with the consistent grit and faith, he retrained his body and spirit to walk that seven yards down the aisle with his bride, Emmy Summers.
The beautifully adorned video shows Chris Norton and Emmy Summers exchanging their wedding vows at Abacoa Golf Club in Jupiter Fla..on April 21st.He who never though he would be able to walk down the aisle is now making that conquering steps in the most beautiful day! His bride, Emmy Summers wrapped her arms around her groom and used all her strength to pick him out of his wheel chair. The newly weds made their way 7 yards down the aisle which is a goal they have been working towards for years! Their near and dear ones, around 20 guests were watching that glorious event in tears of joy!And the happy groom gave all credits to his lovely wife saying..
“ The accident brought me to her and that is the biggest blessing”!
It was on October 16, 2010 when Norton was on the football field for a game against Central college where he mistimed a play, which caused the 18 year old to suffer a spinal cord injury. He was told by the doctors that he just had a three percent chance of ever moving anything below his neck ever again.
“ I wasn’t going to accept that” , I was going to be a part of that three percent” – He says, firmly.
After a grueling rehabilitation and with a strong support from his loving family he was able to return to college as a sophomore in August 2011. In 2012 he stared the Chris Norton Foundation for helping people with spinal cord injuries. His physical limitation was always concern for him to find a “dream girl” who would want to spend her life with him. After dating a few women who didn’t have strong connection, he found his soul mate Emily Summers in August 2013 through a matrimonial site.
That time Emmy was studying at lowa State University and like Norton, she had been raised in a close-knit family with a strong Christian faith. Drawn to her compassion, beauty and hard work, he saw that she didn’t even notice his wheel chair. And for Emmy, his determination and strong faith was the main attraction to make that strong connection!
In between he expressed his desire with Summers that he wanted to walk across the stage at his college graduation in May 2015. And with the help of Summers he could make it happen and as an engaged couple they walked across the stage together as 3000 people cheered them on!
“The walk wouldn’t have been possible without Emily, literally and figuratively,” he says.
Having such great successes made them to set their next goal to walk down the aisle for their wedding and that too has come to pass in a glorious way! And the newly married couple is spreading hope and inspiration to everyone that
” If there is a will we can overcome anything in life”
I am so glad to see them and congratulations to the lovely couple!
