A grieving grandmother has been praising Pilots for their “extraordinary kindness” they showed her during the time of her need. And for the pilots “It was an honor “to offer condolences to a grieving heart and they just did it wholeheartedly!
The passenger named Kathryn has been mourning the death of her loving grandmother. Her grandmother, Concetta Immacolata Mongiardo, has passed away at the age of 103 on last week. Kathryn was very close with her grandmother and it was very sorrowful for her to deal the death of her loving grandmother. For the wake and funeral mass, she made a special poster of her grandma’s picture. That particular picture was taken on her grandmother’s 100th birthday and was one of her favourite collection!
So she was in preparation to travel with this beautifully wrapped picture in the aircraft on May 10. When she reached at the airport she asked the Alaska Airline gate agent, Lourdes Pedemonte that if there was a special place where she could keep the picture. At first they said the same will go in the cargo compartment as an ordinary parcel. But when Kathryn explained why she was travelling with this special photo and why it was so important to her, the Airline agent was moved in tears of compassion..
“Pedemonte started to cry with me, and then she assured me that Nan wouldn’t have to fly in the cargo hold. A few minutes later, she came up to me, put her hand on my shoulder and said, ‘you’re all set, the pilots are going to keep Nan in the cockpit,’” says Kathryn.
When she board the plane, the flight attendant Pam Keck, gave her a special honor saying “you must be the woman with some precious cargo” and handed her special Nan over to the pilots. The Pilots also made sure to say that” don’t worry we would take good care of Nan” and kept it inside the cockpit .Finally when they landed at the destination, her special cargo was safely back to her hand. The kind gesture of love she received from the Alaska Airlines staff has touched her heart and she just couldn’t stop highlighting it!
