Enduring curiosity for 70 years is too much in anyone’s life. But when it get unwrapped with a beautiful ending, there is nothing like to cheer up! The touching episode happened in a sister’s life when a mystery man visit’s her dead brother’s grave for 70 years!
It was on 1947, the family suffered a terrible tragedy. Their 12 year old son, Karl Smith drowned while on a Boy’s Scout’s trip. The swimming accident of their child was never easy for the family and it rocked the small Cotswold village in England with tears. When Karl died, his sister Ann was only 7 years old. Being so young she didn’t had much memories with him to fall back on. But Ann continued visiting her brother’s grave for years to come as a way to feel close.
But she wasn’t the only one bringing memories to leave by the graveside. There were some else who drops flowers, feathers, poems on several times a year for Karl. As the years pass by, Ann was wondering who could be the one leaving such beautiful memories on the dead boy’s grave and she couldn’t help but take notice of it!
Since she knew it wasn’t a family member, she stretched her search for the mystery person among the Boy’s Scouts and asked for tips by placing ads in the news papers. She also advertised in the church bulletin and even left a letter at Karl’s grave. However she didn’t receive any hints as to who it could be!
Finally, she enlisted the help of a newspaper journalist named Camila Ruz. Camila helped Ann launch a full-blown investigation. After analyzing the gifts left behind and revisiting the events leading up to Karl’s accidental drowning, they could locate the man behind the scene. The mystery man was none other than a close friend of Karl- Police Officer Ronald Seymour Westborough,
Karl and Ronald had been close pals and Ronald, was one of the Boy’s Scouts on the trip and had shared a tent with Karl. That day when the Scout Master had gone to get some food, a group of boys, including Ronald and Karl, snuck off to swim in the sea. At the end of their leisure time in sea, when it came time to put their clothes back, Ronald was one of the boys who noticed Karl’s clothes were still on the shore. He and another Scout started looking for Karl and found him face down in the water.
The horrific tragedy stayed with Ronald his entire life. That’s why Ronald continued to go back to the graveyard year after year, just to let Karl know he was thinking about him.Ronald never knew that Karl had a sister until Ann met him for the first time!Now that ,Ann and Ronald have formed a special bond,they work together to keep Karl’s memory alive!
