Former Math Teacher Turns NYC Subway Into A Classroom For Struggling Dad

Photo of two subway passengers sharing a moment of compassion is going viral in the internet and its worth watching.

Corey Simmons had been taking advantage of his lengthy New York City train ride by studying some mathematics. He was doing some brain refreshments for his 3rd grade son, who was having trouble with fractions. But considering it has been almost 30 years since Summons had to do elementary school math, he really had some troubles to get through.  That’s when the man who just sits next to him asked what he was doing. And he who was a math teacher was more than happy to help Simmons to relearn fractions , so that he could help his son in school.

Overhearing their heartwarming conversation, another nearby subway passenger named Denise Wilson was struck by their inspiring interaction. And in  no time, she snapped what she had witnessed in the train ride and made it available in her Facebook page.

“He asked the guy to quiz him and everything he got wrong or was confused about, he broke it down and corrected him. And by the end of my train ride Simmons had a better understanding”!

The touching classroom session was good enough to move Wilson in tears saying “ I started tearing up, it was just one person helping another and I thought that was beautiful”

Verse of the Day

Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. — John 10:7, 9-10 (NIV)
