An emotional bride gave her wedding guests a laugh they will never forget, when she accidentally wiped her crying eyes right on the priest’s holy robe.
Marriage is one of the biggest events in anyone’s life. We are entering into a new phase of life alongside the person we love and trust, making a lifelong covenant before God. So it is completely natural for a bride or groom to get overwhelmed during the ceremony.
With all the guests, church leaders, and loved ones watching, it is easy to get nervous and make a mistake you never thought you would—just like this sweet bride who ended up using the priest’s vestment as a tissue.
It all happened during the ceremony when the poor bride started tearing up. As the priest reached out with his ceremonial stole to cover the couple’s joined hands for a traditional Catholic blessing, the sweet bride made a hilarious mistake. Thinking he was offering her a piece of cloth to dry her tears, she leaned right in and blotted her eyes and makeup on his holy vestment.
Her new husband noticed what was happening right away because the cloth was attached to the priest’s neck. He was completely stunned.
Once the guests realized what had happened, the whole church burst out laughing. The priest even turned to the crowd to ask if anyone actually had a real tissue!
Even the priest thought it was hilarious and said in 25 years of ministry he had never seen anything like it.
At that moment, the bride probably felt deeply embarrassed by her silly mistake. But weddings rarely go exactly as planned, and it is often these small, unexpected blunders that give us the fondest memories to look back on and laugh about for years to come.
