College students lead us in worship with beautiful cover of ‘Who Am I.’
HVN & ERTH is a Christian worship collective formed by college students based in Los Angeles California. These dedicated young believers started out with a passion to glorify God through different musical styles while keeping scripture at the center. They have gained steady traction online by releasing intimate worship covers and original songs.
The song they perform here is called ‘Who Am I’ which Mark Hall from Casting Crowns wrote back in 2003. It became a huge Christian hit in the 2000s.
The message is very simple to understand. We are weak but God gives us so much grace. It asks a really beautiful question. Why does the Creator of the whole universe care about us at all. We are so small. We are just here today then gone tomorrow. But He still loves us anyway. It’s not because of our good works, but His mercy only. The lyrics remind us:
Not because of who I am
But because of what You’ve done
Not because of what I’ve done
But because of who You are
When listening to this performance by Ethan Wong, Hailey Somphone, and Celine Carr, I felt deeply moved by their simple arrangement. The soft piano opening combined with their clear gentle vocals created an atmosphere where you can just sit back and pray.
