It is a well-known praise and worship hymn written by Martin J. Nystrom, of Seattle.
After graduating from Oral Roberts University, Tulsa, Oklahoma, he served as a musical evangelist with Christ for the Nations, Dallas, Texas.

Martin Nystrom wrote this famous praise and worship song in 1984, this song is based on Psalm 42:1, “As the deer pants for the water, so my soul longeth after Thee; You alone are my heart’s desire, and I long to worship Thee”
