Many of us get nervous just thinking about flying. Now imagine being thousands of feet in the air when another passenger becomes a real threat to everyone on board.

Most of us would freeze in that terrifying moment. But the Bible tells us that God’s grace reaches everywhere. He sees what’s happening in our lives and already has a plan.

In Nicole’s story, He used an experienced Army veteran to possibly save many lives.

Nicole Pruitt was flying to meet her new grandson in Tucson when everything changed. Twenty minutes into her Delta flight from Atlanta on July 16, another passenger started trying to storm the cockpit and rush toward the main entrance.

The woman said God told her she needed to get off the plane while they were flying.

“She didn’t want to be on the plane anymore. She said God told her to do it; she had a calling,” Pruitt told reporters. “I’m just like, wait a minute. I don’t know about this conversation you’re having, but not today.”

Pruitt saw what was happening and knew she had to act. Her 26 years of Army training kicked in when she realized no one else was moving to help.

“Nobody else was doing nothing, so I just knew I had to do something,” she said. “I’ve got to make it home to my kids, my children, my grandchildren.”

The brave grandmother grabbed the woman and held her down as the pilots turned the plane around.

Pruitt thought about everyone on board during those scary moments. She knew families were counting on getting home safely.

“Those are kids on that plane that have a whole life to live, those are grandparents on that plane, just people full of life and potential,” she said.

Her son Tyrique Perry was waiting at the airport in Tucson. He only heard bits and pieces about what was happening on his mom’s flight.

When he learned what she did, he felt proud but not shocked.

“Not surprised,” Perry said. “Sometimes, it’s just a natural instinct, and you’ve got to get it done.”

Perry posted a video about his mom’s actions on social media. Millions of people watched and praised Nicole for her courage.

The comments filled with love and support for the brave grandmother. One person wrote, “26 years of Army veteran. Thank you for your service!”

Another person wrote, “NEVER get between a grandma and her grandbaby! Thank you ma’am for your service and your heroism!!”

Delta Airlines thanked everyone who helped handle the situation.

The scary experience taught both Nicole and her son something important. “It just teaches you to be grateful for what you have and understand that it can be gone in an instant,” Perry said.

Nicole Pruitt thought she was just going to meet her grandson that day. She had no idea God would use her Army training and brave heart to save lives.

Every day, God builds us for His purpose through our jobs, our struggles, and our experiences. We may never know how He plans to use us until that moment arrives.

Nicole’s story reminds us to stay ready for His call to step up for His glory.
