When God created the heavens and the earth, he created man in his image. Every animal God created, he created them male and female. He created man, male and female for one important reason and that is to multiply and fill the earth. These days, as we have known that homosexuality is not new, we have gay activist – people fighting for the rights of gays in society.
The original plan of God is not for the same sex to get married, naturally, it is impossible for multiplication if this happens but things have been changed and some laws of nature have been twisted. Homosexuality did not just come into the world, it has been in existence since the time of Abraham.
The first notable record of homosexuality in the Bible is that which is recorded about the people of Sodom and Gomorrah. Lot, whose uncle was Abraham, lived there. The sins of the people of Sodom and Gomorrah became too great that God was angry with them. God sent two angels to Lot and warn him about the destruction coming. When they got there, men came to Lot and demanded that he release the angels so they can have sex with them. According to the Bible, it was stated and made clear that it was men that demanded that they have sex with them. Genesis 19:5 “They called to Lot, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them.” People have concluded that when the Bible uses “men” or “man”, it comprises of both male and female being. So this means that it might necessarily mean that it was male that came to Lot requesting that they have sex with the angels. These claims were not true. Reading through the chapter, in verse 6, Lot had to go out to them, he said, “No, my friends.” This is the first proof that all of there were males. The second part is when Lot of offered his two daughters as an exchange.
Every part of where the Bible mention homosexuality, there is always punishment. It is clear that the Bible is against this act and forbids Christians from doing it. It is part of the sexual immoralities that God is ordering the Christians to stay away from. Leviticus 20:13 “‘If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.”
What gave rise to this “sinful” act is the ability of human beings to make decisions, to think.
There have been so many questions that have been raised again faith and the natural laws. Things that are meant to be are being changed in a way that it looks almost meaningless and yet people justifies it giving reasons. The human rights have given chance to many people thereby making homosexuality legal in most countries – of course, that is the way of the world. What we are concerned about is not really how the world does things but what the Bible says about things because it holds the true word of God. Most of the times, people counter the book of Leviticus where homosexuality is prohibited. There lots of commandments in the book of Leviticus and one can choose the one to follow – the one to follow might be prescribed by the religion one follows. In the same part of the Leviticus, it is said that no sacrificed animals should be eaten but yet most people do not follow that.
What is more important is that some laws are still pretty much valid and reflects in the New Testament. Romans 1:27 “In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.” This shows that the prohibition of homosexual marriages is not limited to the Old Testament but also the New Testament abolish the act. The Pharisees went to meet Jesus concerning divorce and God gave them the origin of marriage which had to do with male and female but not male and male. Matthew 19:4 “Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female.”
False doctrines have encroached into the normal way of Christianity, the way that was established by Christ Jesus Himself. They tried to twist the law to suit their heart desire. We can’t say they generally don’t know the rules or the law but they needed to please their hearts. These laws were made for people that indulge in sinful acts which homosexuality is part of. 1 Timothy 1:10 “for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine.” Warnings are given to everyone in the Bible to abstain from homosexuality because of the punishment attached.
