A group of young people in Israel chose to worship God in a bomb shelter during the Iranian missile attack instead of giving in to fear.
When everything around us falls apart, we look for something stable to hold onto. For these young worshippers in Israel, that stability was their faith in God.
A Peaceful Evening Turns Dangerous
It started out like a peaceful evening. Emanuel Roro, a Messianic singer, was leading a group of young adults aged 18 to 30. Some had never visited Israel before.
They had just finished celebrating Shabbat and planned to worship outside. Then the sirens started across the nation.
The Warning Comes
“Thousands of missiles from Iran,” the warnings announced. Air raid sirens sounded in Tel Aviv, Haifa, Bat Yam, Petah Tikva, Ramat Gan, Tamra and Rehovot.
The group rushed into a large bomb shelter with nearby families. Believers and non believers crowded together under the concrete roof. Instead of sitting quietly in fear, they kept worshipping.
Worship in the Underground Shelter
Emily, who recorded the moment, watched as voices joined together in song. “We continued the worship down in the shelter,” she said. They sang so loudly they could barely hear the Iron Dome missiles intercepting overhead.
Emanuel Roro led them in songs like “My house was built on You,” declaring trust in Jesus despite the chaos above. The concrete walls filled with declarations of faith.
Fear Turns to Unity
Children who had been frightened moments before now lifted their voices. Adults who didn’t share their beliefs found themselves moved by the unity.
Emily felt something special in that shelter. “Joy and the peace of the Lord because I know that God protects Israel and that He’s with us and He’s for us,” she explained. Fear had no place where faith filled the space.
Prayer for the Nation
The moment became more than worship. It became prayer for their entire nation. Every voice mattered, whether they believed or not. Together they sang: “I put my faith in Jesus… He’s faithful…” Their words carried hope through the darkness.
While missiles struck and uncertainty filled the night, these believers showed what it looks like to trust God completely. They demonstrated that faith doesn’t break under pressure. It grows stronger in difficult times.
The Current Situation
As of June 16, at least 24 Israelis have been killed and more than 400 injured. Hundreds more remain missing. We hold to the promise that God is with His people and will never forsake them.
Let us continue to uphold our brothers and sisters in Israel through prayer and support.
