The hymn It Is Well With My Soul was written by Horatio Spafford in 1873 after a series of tragic events in his life. The death of his young son and the Great Chicago Fire in 1871 which destroyed the properties he had invested in and the death of all four of his daughters in a sea accident. Only his wife survived.

It is not an easy road the road to eternity that believers of Christ walk and trudge along. We are not promised an easy life on earth but an eternal life with God in heaven.
When the pain and sorrows of life greet us we are called to look upon Jesus and surrender it to Him. The believer’s goal is the sky and not the grave.
