It’s not easy to find people doing good things these days. The Bible warns us that in the last days, people will become lovers of money and lovers of themselves. We see it happening around us.

But even in the midst of all this, we still hear stories that remind us God is raising up faithful young people who choose what’s right over what’s easy.

17-year-old Josh Pash spotted a thick bundle of cash lying on the ground outside a petrol station in Tugun. The money belonged to Daniel McKellar, who runs a business called Coastal Demolitions.

McKellar had just collected $3,500 after dropping off some copper at a scrap metal yard. He stopped at The Fox’s Pantry near the petrol station to grab a coffee. That’s when the cash fell out of his pocket. He didn’t even notice.

McKellar drove home with his wife. When he got there, he realized the money was gone. “I freaked out that I had lost the money because I couldn’t find it in the car,” he said. He called the petrol station right away.

A worker gave him the good news. A young man had already turned the money in without any hesitation.

McKellar wanted to find this honest young man. He went to the petrol station and asked to see the CCTV footage.

The next day, Josh’s mother saw her son in the video and reached out to McKellar.

When people asked Josh why he returned the money, he gave a simple answer. “Probably couldn’t live with me taking that. Just didn’t feel right.”

McKellar was so impressed. He said, “Most 17-year-olds will be down at the Chuke and Bowls Club having a beer and maybe having a slap underage, but you know, good on him for handing it in.”

McKellar gave Josh $1,000 as a reward. Josh is saving up for a ute, and this money helped him get closer to his goal. McKellar even set up a GoFundMe page to help Josh save even more.

But here’s where the story gets even better. McKellar took $2,500 from the money Josh returned and donated it to another GoFundMe. This one was helping a Gold Coast father who is battling cancer.

One honest choice from a teenager started something beautiful. Josh just wanted to do what felt right. He had no idea his decision would help someone fighting for their life.

God works through our obedience in ways we cannot see. Josh’s integrity didn’t just return money to one man. It brought hope to a whole family facing one of life’s hardest battles. That’s the power of doing the right thing.
