The 25-year-old vocal coach from Sumter, South Carolina, went through the heartbreak of a miscarriage that would devastate any mom. But the tragedy helped her realize that life is short and inspired her to chase her goals.

When she reached American Idol for the audition, she had no confusion about what to sing on one of the biggest TV shows in the country. She chose that opportunity to praise God with a soul-stirring performance of “Pass Me Not, O Gentle Savior.”

Fanny Crosby wrote this beautiful song in 1868. The message is a humble plea for God to hear a sinner’s cry and not pass them by during their suffering.

Tianna closed her eyes, and her powerful voice touched every person in that room.

Carrie Underwood looked like she was holding back tears while the men on the panel watched in silence.

Lionel Richie told her, “You can handle it with that voice any day of the week. I love what you did.” The judges did not need to debate. They all said yes and handed her a Golden Ticket.

Verse of the Day

“[Love Your Enemies] “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.”

Matthew 5:43-45
