Duck Dynasty star Sadie Robertson Huff is praising God after her eight-month-old daughter, Kit, survived a frightening choking emergency during a family vacation.

Every parent does the best they can to keep their children safe. We baby-proof the cabinets, cut grapes in half, check the car seat three times before pulling out of the driveway.
We watch over them through sleepless nights when they have a little fever. We rush to the doctor over a weird rash. But we all know the fact that no matter how careful we are, it’s God who truly protects our children from all harm.
Robertson Huff’s story is one of those moments that stops you in your tracks and reminds you just how real that truth is.
Robertson Huff, 28, shared what happened in an emotional Instagram post on Saturday, April 12. She posted a video of little Kit sleeping on her chest on a porch swing with the word “Miracle” and a dove emoji. The song playing in the background was ‘Million Little Miracles’ by Elevation Worship and Maverick City Music. She admitted it wasn’t easy to talk about.
“This feels hard to talk about in my real life, much less on social media, but I do feel it is worth sharing because I truly believe awareness of it will save lives,” she wrote.
She also got real about the emotional weight she’s been carrying since. “I’m currently walking through the waves of anxiety from the trauma of the situation, and the immense gratitude for the miracle of Kit’s full recovery and God’s undeniable hand on this situation,” she shared.
“I’ve been off social media and having my family and amazing team help me on here for some time while I work on having a sound mind.”
So here’s what happened. Kit was sitting in her high chair eating a snack while Robertson Huff was finishing up dinner. Then out of nowhere, Kit started choking. It got bad fast.
Robertson Huff’s mom grabbed Kit from the chair and put her in Robertson Huff’s arms. And that’s when Kit stopped breathing.
Think about that for a second. Your baby is in your arms and she’s not breathing.
The whole family jumped into action. Her mom called 911. Robertson Huff started CPR. Everyone else began praying out loud and moved the other kids downstairs. It was chaos, but it was also faith in motion.
“I am one of those people who likes to be prepared for all situations, so I’ve watched several videos while hoping and praying I would never have to use this knowledge,” Robertson Huff wrote.
“I can only explain it now like my body just knew what to do. I felt God’s Spirit guiding me, partnering with me in what I had learned and seen. I remember saying out loud, ‘What do I do?’ and then immediately started doing it and declaring life.”
Then came the moment everyone had been praying for. “After following protocol for a baby choking and doing CPR, Kit miraculously coughed and began to breathe, just as the paramedics arrived… it was truly terrifying, but God.”
Those last two words say it all, don’t they? Terrifying, but God.
Robertson Huff rode in the ambulance with Kit. She said she was “still afraid, but praising God.” Meanwhile, her husband Christian drove behind them. What he told her later gave me chills. “Christian drove behind, following us, and told me there was a rainbow over the ambulance the whole way there,” she wrote.
“We stayed the night for observation,” Robertson Huff said, “but she charmed the nurses just a few hours later and is now perfectly healthy, happy, and brightening everyone’s day!”
Robertson Huff and Christian married in 2019, and Kit joins big sisters Honey, 4, and Haven, 2. The family currently stars in the second season of ‘Duck Dynasty: The Revival,’ which premiered on March 7. Robertson Huff also hosts the WHOA That’s Good Podcast and is the author of ‘Live Original.’
But she made it clear this post wasn’t about fame or followers. It was a testimony. And a wake-up call for every parent out there.
“It happened SO fast, and I’m so thankful I was able to go straight into action!” she wrote. “We know that God has our children in His hands — we are not in control of our children’s breath or even of our own. We can’t live in a state of fear… we have to trust God in all of it. And also, preparation and knowledge in the spiritual and physical sense can be a gift that you can give yourself and your family! Please join us in thanking God for this miracle!”
It’s amazing when you think about how God prepared this mom long before that terrifying moment ever came. He nudged her to watch those videos. He put that knowledge in her hands ahead of time. And let’s be honest, most of us would freeze in a moment like that. Even if we know CPR, when it’s your own child lying there not breathing, our minds would be empty. But God guided her hands and gave her the clarity to act when it mattered most.
