Chris Tomlin brought thousands to their feet on the National Mall as he closed out the historic Rededicate 250 gathering with a worship set that shook the nation’s capital.

Rededicate 250: A National Jubilee of Prayer, Praise & Thanksgiving’ was a day-long gathering organized to mark America’s upcoming 250th birthday. But it wasn’t just a celebration. It was a call.
A call to reflect on the country’s faith heritage and to officially rededicate the nation as “One Nation under God.” And Chris Tomlin was the one chosen to bring it all home with the headline performance.
Tomlin starts with the beautiful worship song ‘Good Good Father.’ Written by Pat Barrett and Tony Brown back in 2014 this song has become one of the most personal worship songs in the church today. It’s built on one truth that changes everything. God is a good Father and we are loved by Him.
What started as a quiet intimate moment turned into thousands of voices singing together across that field. Then he continued the worship with ‘Great Are You Lord,’ ‘How Great Is the Name,’ ‘Our God.’
Thousands of people chanting together that “our God is greater, our God is stronger.” You could feel the energy just building and building.
Tomlin played ‘Holy Forever’ and the whole atmosphere shifted. There’s something about declaring that God is holy forever that puts everything else in perspective. Then he closed with his iconic anthem ‘How Great Is Our God’ and honestly what better way to end a night like this.
We needed this. Our nation needed this. Rededicate 250 reminds us that this nation belongs to God. It was built on faith and it was built on values that came straight from His word. And we have a responsibility to uphold those faith values that built this nation into what we see today.
Our God is greater. Our God is stronger. And His name will stand above every other name forever. That’s not just a song lyric. That’s a promise.
“Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” – Philippians 2:9-11
