A group of eighth graders in Nebraska picked one of the most powerful worship songs of our generation for their final middle school concert and what happened next left the whole room in tears.

This happened at Elkhorn Grandview Middle School in May 2026. The music teacher gave the kids five different songs to choose from for their last concert before heading off to high school.
And every single one of them picked the same song. Lauren Daigle’s ‘You Say.’ Not a pop hit. Not something trending on TikTok. A worship song about identity and the voice of God being louder than our doubts.
Daigle released ‘You Say’ in 2018 on her album ‘Look Up Child.’ The song is basically a conversation between us and God where we bring Him all the lies we believe about ourselves and He speaks truth back over us.
For a bunch of thirteen and fourteen-year-olds about to step into high school that message hits different.
“Every single one of them said, ‘We want to do You Say,'” the teacher told the audience before they started. So the piano kicked in and the room got quiet.
The first soloist stepped up and her voice came out soft but steady singing about fighting the voices in her mind that say she’s not enough. You could feel the room shift. Then the whole choir came in on the chorus and their voices just filled that place.
When it was over the parents just erupted. The teacher walked back to the mic looking like she was trying not to cry. “I am going to miss them so much,” she said. “You are all amazing. Keep singing always, even if it is just in your car.”
Nobody told those kids to pick a worship song. They chose it on their own. We are seeing more and more young people stand up for Jesus and God is moving through them.
So if you ever worry about the next generation don’t. God’s got them and they are already carrying the torch.
