Elderly Woman Shares How to Stop Negative Thoughts Using the Word of God

An elderly woman named Lynn Touchette shares a powerful message about how to stop negative thoughts using the Word of God.

We all struggle with negative thoughts and overthinking at some point in our lives and that is true even for the strongest believers. But here is the thing, it does not just drain us mentally or physically. It slowly and silently pulls us away from God. That is why Lynn’s message is so important for all of us today.

Lynn opens her message with 2 Corinthians 10:5 which says we are to “take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” She explains that spiritual warfare is not about asking God to step in. It is about using the authority He has already given us.

“It is taking authority over evil, over Satan by using our God-given authority in the name of Jesus to command the enemy to leave us and to go,” Lynn says.

She is clear that this authority is not self-generated. It flows from the name of Jesus, His blood, His Word, and His Spirit. When a thought contradicts God’s Word, Lynn says to reject it out loud. “You say, ‘Nope, that is not what the word says. This is what the word says, and this is who I am,'” she explains.

Lynn closes with a prayer asking God to make us bold against every attack. She prays that we would walk in the freedom that Jesus already bought for us.

“Our victory will be determined by the knowledge of who we are in Christ,” she says.

So don’t let those negative thoughts run your mind anymore. You have the authority. God has already placed His power inside of you through His Word, His name and His Spirit.

The next time a dark thought comes knocking, don’t just sit there and take it. Open your mouth and speak the Word. Tell that thought it has no place in your life. Tell the enemy he has no authority over you. Because he doesn’t. Jesus already took care of that on the cross. So walk in that freedom today. Walk bold. Walk strong. And remember that no thought, no fear and no lie from the enemy is bigger than the name of Jesus.
