Vocalist Holly Wiper, composer Dan Forrest and a massive choir performed ‘Come Find His Rest’ live at the Sing! 2025 conference.
The event was hosted by Keith and Kristyn Getty who you probably know from their modern hymn ‘In Christ Alone’ and their work reviving congregational worship worldwide. On stage was the highly respected composer Dan Forrest playing the piano. If you know Dan Forrest choral music you know his work is deeply rooted in scripture and loved globally.
The song ‘Come Find His Rest’ was written by Erik Dewar in 2021, and Forrest’s arrangement blends it with the classic hymn ‘I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say.’
The message of the song is simple, and it’s exactly what we need to hear. It’s an invitation to come to Jesus and drop the heavy burdens we’ve been carrying. We spend so much of our days striving and stressing, and the song reminds us that we don’t have to fix ourselves before we come. His arms are already open, and we can find our satisfaction in Him.
Holly’s voice draws you into the song from the very first line. Then the orchestra comes in, and its beautiful arrangement makes you feel the lyrics. When the choir joins, the whole performance comes full circle. Near the end, Holly sings together with the choir and it sounds heavenly. I found myself wondering, if we humans can make worship music this beautiful here on earth, how beautiful must the worship in heaven be?
So many of us are running ourselves ragged trying to handle everything on our own. In Matthew 11, Jesus invites the tired and heavy laden to come to Him:
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28, NKJV)
