A little boy received the invaluable gift of hearing his mother’s voice for the first time in his life, and his reaction is warming hearts across the country.
Maison McMillian from Virginia sat on his mother, Lauryn Webb’s, lap as he was fitted for hearing aids at VCU Children’s Hospital. “Hi! Can you hear me? Hi, baby,” Webb said to Maison in a moment caught on video.
Maison broke into a huge smile and cooed back to his mother. Webb shared the video on Twitter, and it has since gone viral with over 4.3 million views.
Maison weighed only one pound when he was born four months premature and has faced many challenges, Webb said. He spent 158 days in the neonatal intensive care unit, where his family and doctors began to realize he couldn’t hear them.
“Maison Martin, you are the strongest, bravest person I know, and I thank God every day for choosing me to be your mommy,” Webb wrote in an Instagram post on his first birthday.
