A beloved Canadian worship leader left behind a final musical gift of grace just before passing away in July 2026.

Brian Doerksen came from British Columbia in Canada and served as a worship leader and pastor for decades. If you have been in a church in the last thirty years, you have definitely sung his songs. We all know his classic anthems like ‘Come, Now Is the Time to Worship’ and ‘Refiner’s Fire.’ He won major music awards over the years, but he never seemed to lose that humble heart for Jesus.
In February 2026 he recorded and filmed an album dedicated to helping those who struggled with anxiety and insomnia. Tragically around that time he began to experience health issues and passed away in his home surrounded by family and friends on July 21st.
‘Whisper’ is the first single from that upcoming album called Breathing and it is paired with found footage and live footage from those recording sessions.
The message of this song is so plain and comforting for us. When we go through hard times, we do not have to carry all that heavy weight on our own shoulders.
God promises that His love stays right there under us like a solid floor that never gives way. We do not have to work hard to earn His peace because it is already a free gift. He just wants us to sit still, rest in His care, and let Him carry us when we feel weak.
Listening to his weathered voice sing these comforting words brought tears right to my eyes. We just need to stop running and find comfort in His promises.
Brian may have left this world, but the gospel he wrote in his songs will continue speaking to many hearts.
If you need a moment to breathe deep and remember how deeply you are loved forever then this beautiful Christian song is a true blessing to hear today.
