The Grammy-winning artist Cece Winans delivered a powerful message about God’s never-changing faithfulness during NPR’s Tiny Desk concert.
We all need that safe place where we can run when life gets hard. Sometimes we feel lost or worried about what comes next. But God stays the same through every storm we face. His love never changes, and that truth can carry us through anything.
The 60-year-old singer shared her heart with everyone at NPR. “I fell in love with the presence of God as a young child and I’m so glad I did, because it’s a safe place,” she said.
Her band wore denim and stood behind her as she spoke about God’s constant love.
Winans has been singing for more than 30 years as a solo artist. Before that, she sang with her brother BeBe as the duo BeBe & CeCe.
“God is faithful and what I love about him he stays the same,” she told the audience. “Doesn’t matter what we’ve done or where we’ve been.”
She performed shorter versions of her most loved songs. The list included ‘Alabaster Box,’ ‘Pray,’ ‘Believe for It,’ ‘Come Jesus Come,’ ‘Goodness of God,’ ‘Alone in the Presence,’ and ‘That’s My King.’ Between songs, she shared Scripture with the audience.
Winans pointed to Romans 8:31 and asked, “What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us?”
Winans wanted everyone to know something important. “I just want everyone to know God loves you with an everlasting love,” she said. “Because He never changes, we can always run to Him, no matter what we face.”
The singer started her career at 17 years old. She talked about how God has blessed her with family and music. “When you recognize who Jesus is, you can’t help but worship Him,” she explained to the audience.
During a recent talk with CBN News, Winans spoke about raising children with faith. She believes this matters deeply for all believers.
“[Jesus] finished it on the cross — the availability of salvation — but He uses us and our children and our children’s children to continue to win the world to Him,” she said.
Winans gave advice to parents. She told them to take time with their kids to teach Scripture and pray with them. She mentioned Deuteronomy 6:6-7, which tells parents to repeat God’s commands to their children at home and on the road.
Looking back at her own parenting, Winans shared something she would do differently. “The one thing I would do differently if I had the chance to go back and raise my children again would be to invite the Holy Spirit into every moment,” she said.
God has a special calling on every child, Winans believes. She said only the Holy Spirit knows every detail about each child. Parents should invite Him in before making decisions.
Winans’ message touches our hearts because it reminds us that God never leaves us.
When we feel alone or scared, we can remember that God is always there, ready to welcome us home.
