A comedian named Derrick Stroup went viral after joking about how New York City mice are nothing like the rodents he grew up with in the country.

God has a funny way of humbling us through the most unexpected things — even mice. Sometimes it takes a good laugh to remind us that life’s little battles are real, and we are not alone in fighting them.
Derrick Stroup knows mice. Growing up in the country, he dealt with them plenty. But nothing prepared him for what he found living in his New York City apartment.
“No, New York City mice are different,” he said flat out.
Derrick said he blocked everything off in his apartment and searched every corner. His best guess? They were walking right through the front door. These mice were not sneaking around either. They were bold, unapologetic, and acting like they owned the place.
He threw rat poison in the cabinet. The mice used it as war paint.
“They’re back there throwing dice off the back of the cabinet,” he joked. “Smoking a black and mild.”
When he opened the cabinet, one mouse stared back at him like he was the one interrupting something. The mouse’s attitude was clear: *We live here. We’ve been here our whole life.*
Then came the mouse trap. Derrick opened the cabinet to find a mouse holding the trap up and daring him: “You’re going to have to kill me with your hands.”
The crowd went wild — and honestly, so did we.
We may not all live in New York, but we all have battles that refuse to go down easy. Take heart. God sees every frustrating fight, every blocked corner, every slammed cabinet. He is still with us — even on the hard days.
