Cop Who Rescued 11-Year-Old Girl Attends Her Graduation 6 Years Later

It was a proud moment for Suffolk County Police Officer Matthew DeMatteo, watching this teen girl graduating from North Babylon High School. Because it was the same girl he rescued from icy waters six years ago. Sarah Thalhammer was 11, when she was dragged on to the frozen Great South Bay by a dog. The heroic police officer crawled onto the ice and pulled her to safety, risking his own life. Now it’s the moment of a lifetime for Sarah Thalhammer and the hero police officer.

Verse of the Day

“[Serve God with Spiritual Gifts] For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.”

Romans 12:3
