Leonard Cohen wrote ‘Hallelujah’ in 1984, and even though he was not writing it as a worship song, that single word, “Hallelujah,” which means “praise the Lord” in Hebrew, has been finding its way into the hearts of believers ever since. And then along came David.

David Döring is a musician from Germany who has been chasing music since he was six years old. He started with violin lessons as a little boy. But then at twelve, something changed. He heard pan flutist Edward Simoni play, and that was it. He put down the violin and never looked back.

For years now, David has devoted himself entirely to the pan flute, and one of the things closest to his heart is taking old, familiar songs and breathing new life into them. That is exactly what he does here.

When he plays ‘Hallelujah,’ it does not feel like a performance. It feels like a prayer.

Let’s not let this moment pass us by. Take five minutes today. Find a quiet corner, listen to David’s rendition of ‘Hallelujah,’ and just let God in. Let it be your prayer when words feel too heavy to carry.

Verse of the Day

“For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.”

2 Corinthians 5:14-15
