Officer Wins Lottery, Donates Winnings to Hurricane Relief

In a heartwarming story, a Deputy who won the lottery, donated the amount to Hurricane relief.

Deputy J. Marcum, with the Escambia County Sheriffs Office, recently won $1,000 at a Rotary Foundation meeting.

Marcum, belonged to the K-9 unit in Escambia County, whose teams are used for searches and drug detection.

The deputy won the Rotary’s raffle and instantly decided to donate it to the Rotary Foundation to aid with hurricane relief.

The Rotary club shared a post on it and also posted photos of the deputy to Facebook and his K-9 partner Benga saying, “That folks, is Escambia County’s finest…service above self.”

A post from the Sheriffs Office also spoke about it, “We are very proud of Deputy Marcum and K-9 Benga’s work in Escambia County and his decision to help out with our neighbor’s recovery efforts.”
