In the performance, Anabel sits next to a drum pedal while her owner plays the cello. Together they play the song ‘Believer’ by Imagine Dragons.
What makes this so special is how Anabel watches her owner the entire time. She never looks away. She waits for her owner to give a small nod with her head. That nod tells Anabel exactly when to press her paw on the drum pedal.
Every single time her owner nods, Anabel hits the pedal at just the right moment. The timing is perfect.
Her owner says it took a lot of work to teach Anabel how to drum. The training required real patience from both of them. But the hardest part was not teaching Anabel when to hit the pedal.
The owner had to learn to control her own head movements. She had to make sure she only nodded when she wanted Anabel to play.
Any extra head movement might confuse her dog and throw off the whole performance.
