A house fire took everything from a Florida family, but God left them a powerful reminder that He is always with them.

The Raky family in Sanford, Florida, lost their home to a fire that started in their garage. The Seminole County Fire Department says a Tesla charging port sparked the blaze. What happened next showed God’s hand at work in the middle of disaster.
Marley Capper from Fox 35 Orlando went to the scene to talk with the family. Marley goes to the same church as the Rakys, so this story hit close to home. “It’s just heartbreaking to see the damage that was done,” she said.
Mina Raky and his daughter Lily stood in what used to be their kitchen. The cabinets were destroyed. Everything had melted.
“It’s just crazy to me that this is gone,” Lily said. “But the Lord will bless us. It’s crazy to think about all the memories that happened here and that it can just be gone in a split second. But the Lord provides.”
Then Marley spotted something that made her tear up. In the middle of all the destruction sat a Bible in a box. The box had some soot on it, but the Bible looked perfect. Nothing had touched it.
“That is my Bible,” Mina said. “I cried because that’s where I have all my notes. That’s where I have my fights, my arguments with myself. That’s where I read my morning time with God. I’m glad this is safe. Everything is gone except His word. It will never go away.”
Lily’s escape from the fire was a miracle. She woke up and tried to find her siblings. Smoke filled the upstairs. She couldn’t breathe. She started losing consciousness.
“The Lord just kind of gave me a word,” Lily said. “After I ran into my brother’s room, the Lord was like, ‘Window, window, window.’ And I’m like, oh my gosh, thank you, Jesus, the window.”
She threw herself out the second-story window just as she was passing out from the smoke. A neighbor found her and helped her down with a ladder.
Mina talked about how fast the fire spread. “I saw smoke and then sparks and the whole house was on fire. It didn’t take one minute. It was like 20 seconds. Everything was on fire.”
The family’s church stepped up right away. They got the Rakys an Airbnb and did something beautiful. They filled it with printed family photos, a Christmas tree, and stockings with their names on them.
“I couldn’t believe it,” Mina said. “They didn’t just find a place to stay. They made it home. They got us back to normal.”
We can learn something from this family. Lily and Mina stood in the ashes of their home and praised God. Lily said she lost hope for a moment. Mina said they were all traumatized. But they kept their eyes on Jesus.
When we face hard times, we can remember that God’s word never burns. His promises stand firm when everything else falls apart. The Raky family lost their house, but they didn’t lose what matters most.
