A farmer’s surprisingly wise and funny comparison between people and potatoes is making the internet laugh and think.

We often look for wisdom in big places. Best-selling books. Famous pastors. Long sermons. But God has always had a habit of hiding truth in ordinary things. A burning bush. A mustard seed. And apparently, a table full of potatoes.
In a short video posted on social media, a farmer stands beside a table loaded with potatoes and makes a case that most of us weren’t ready for.
“If you feel like giving up, just think about the potatoes,” he says. “They grow up in total darkness, and in a while, they feed everyone. So, next time, when you are feeling you are giving up, please be like a potato.”
Simple words. But sit with them for a moment.
A potato never sees the sun while it’s growing. It pushes through cold, dark soil with no applause, no encouragement, and no guarantee. And yet, it feeds millions.
Some of the most important growth in our lives works exactly the same way. Nobody sees it. Nothing feels like it’s working. But something is happening beneath the surface.
Then the farmer adds a warning with a grin. “Don’t be like couch potato. They are just sitting by TV and eating the other potatoes.”
That line got the laughs. But it carries a real edge.
There’s a difference between going through a hard season and just sitting in one.
We don’t always get to choose our dark seasons. But we do choose what we do inside them. Push through. Stay rooted. Trust the process God has you in.
The harvest is coming. Don’t quit before it does.
