A Moving Performance by Five Classy Lassies
These young women are Five Classy Lassies, a group made of sisters Evania, Juliana, Karissa, Makyra, and Annelise Williamson. They learned to sing together as children in their family home and now share worship videos online. I felt such peace listening to them because they do not rely on loud equipment or studio tricks. They just sing directly from the heart.
They choose to sing pure a cappella, which means no instruments backing them up. When I listened to them sing Holy Forever, I had tears in my eyes. The way their voices blend together is a true blessing. You can tell they have spent years singing together at home because their timing is just lovely.
The Message Behind Holy Forever
The song Holy Forever was written by Chris Tomlin alongside Brian Johnson, Jenn Johnson, Jason Ingram, and Phil Wickham. It came out in 2022 on Tomlin’s album Always and later hit the top of the Christian music charts in 2023.
The words remind us that God’s glory stands above all earthly powers and troubles. It speaks to how all creation and all who are forgiven will praise Him for eternity.
Their performance moved me deeply. These sisters do not need a big church stage or fancy lights to praise the Lord. They just stand close in their living room, sway to the music, and give all the glory to God.
1 Peter 1:15-16 (NKJV) reminds us that just as He who called us is holy, we also ought to be holy in all our conduct, because God says, “Be holy, for I am holy.”
What does holiness actually mean? Does it mean living a perfect life? Absolutely not. Holiness simply means we set ourselves apart for Him and try our best each day to walk in His truth and love. It comes with the realization that we do not belong to this world or its ways, because we are His forever.
Let us take care to keep the holy garment of salvation the Lord gave us unstained. We live in a fallen world and mistakes will happen. But every day let us come back into His presence for sanctification and prepare ourselves for His return.
