Comedian Jeff Allen found the perfect and hilarious way to get back at his overly strict homeowner’s association before moving out of his Arizona neighborhood for good.

Buying a house is one of those milestones that many of us dream about and work hard toward. It’s a goal that we often lift up in prayer, trusting God to open the right doors at the right time.
But for those who do get the keys to their own home, there’s often one thing that comes along with it. It’s the homeowner’s association, or HOA.
Now, some HOAs are reasonable and easy to work with, while others are strict and hand out fines for just about anything.
Jeff Allen knows this struggle all too well. He lived in Arizona, so he didn’t have a traditional lawn. Instead, he had rocks, which is a pretty common thing in the desert. But his HOA found problems with just about everything he did.
“They were always writing me up,” Jeff said. “Garbage can lids were off. Garage door was open.”
Even his rocks drew complaints because his kids would run through them and scatter them around. “Your rocks are a little messy,” they told him.
Jeff joked about the rocks, saying, “Those are the ones that fell out of my head for moving here.”
But the real punchline came on moving day. As Jeff and his wife Tammy were driving away from the house for the last time, he pulled the car over and got out. He walked through the yard and deliberately scattered rocks everywhere, making a complete mess.
When Tammy asked what he was doing, Jeff had the perfect response. “I’m just setting up a meeting between Gladys and the new owners, because I’m a people person,” he said, comparing his nosy HOA neighbor to the famous Gladys Kravitz from the TV show ‘Bewitched.’
Sometimes laughter truly is the best medicine. When life hands us frustrating situations, a good sense of humor can carry us through with grace and joy intact.
