A playful five-month-old tuxedo cat named Roller turned a local cat cafe into an indoor swimming pool and caused a temporary closure.

Cats are such funny little creatures because they always seem to find their way into trouble. We know how they love to explore and get into things they shouldn’t.
God gave them a playful spirit that brings so much laughter and joy into our homes.
The Purrfect Bean, Richmond’s only cat cafe, suffered extensive damage because of a five-month-old tuxedo cat named Roller. While most felines avoid the sink, Roller is a true “water bug” who enjoys splashing around.

Staff had previously seen him playing with the faucet. They were still working on a way to secure it when the accident occurred. During the night, Roller reportedly used a towel to plug the drain and turned on the water.
The resulting overflow flooded the second floor and rained down into the cafe below. Owner Michelle Langham described the scene as a “monsoon” that ruined floors and drywall.
When a volunteer discovered the mess, the other cats were huddled on high furniture to stay dry. Meanwhile, Roller was found “water skiing” and having a “grand time” in the flood.
The cafe, which opened in mid-August, serves as a bridge between foster homes and forever families. While the building is repaired, the cats are back in foster care.
Roller is still looking for a home, though he continues to find his way into sinks. The community has rallied to support the business through fundraisers and T-shirts featuring Roller’s “mugshot.”
Michelle Langham noted, “We have so many awesome people who have offered to help us that we’ve just felt so much love.”
