Lauren Daigle brought crowd to worship with a powerful performance of ‘Rescue’ at A Capitol Fourth 2025 on July 4.
Daigle performed on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol with first responders standing beside her. Before she started singing, she shared something personal with the crowd.
Her own brother is a first responder. “Any time we can honor those who keep this country safe, I’m all in,” she said.
What happened next was beautiful. Thousands of people in the audience turned on their phone flashlights.
Daigle sang the words that mean so much to people who are hurting: “I will send out an army to find you in the middle of the hardest fight… It’s true, I will rescue you.”
The song ‘Rescue’ came out in 2019. The writers meant it as a message to someone who was struggling. They wanted people to feel that even when things are hard, better times are coming.
During the performance, people watched firefighters and veterans cry as they heard those words.
Daigle sang other songs that night too, including ‘America the Beautiful’ and ‘Walking on Sunshine.’ But many people agreed that ‘Rescue’ was the most powerful moment of the whole evening.
