A six-year-old boy from Carencro nearly drowned on July 4th but survived to tell his family about seeing heaven and angels.
We all want to experience the presence of God, whether it’s in church or during our personal prayer times. But God doesn’t need a specific time or place to speak to us or reveal powerful truths.
Sometimes it might be when we drive to work, or when we go for a walk. But the Bible reminds us that God often meets us most deeply in our weakness.
This is exactly what happened to a little boy in Louisiana when he saw heaven and angels after a near-fatal accident.
Krista Parker thought she was having a normal fun day with her family at the Paragon Casino Resort.
A Fun Day Turns Into Terror
Parker’s son DJ was sitting by the pool with his feet in the water. She felt okay about this because DJ was scared of water and would not jump in on his own.
“I saw DJ sitting by the pool with his feet in the pool and I was kind of okay with it because D.J. he’s scared of water, so he’s not going to just jump in the water,” Parker said.
Then everything changed in a split second. DJ suddenly became lifeless. His body went still. Parker started screaming and panicking, but something inside her said to try CPR. She began pumping his chest while crying out to God.
Helpless Mom Cries Out to God
“God please call your angels. Covered them with my son Lord in the name of Jesus. Lord, cover my baby with your blood in the name of Jesus, Lord, please give me my baby back,” Parker cried when she remembered that day.
Her husband joined her efforts. He gave DJ mouth-to-mouth while she kept doing CPR. Water poured from DJ’s mouth. His eyes stayed bloodshot red and would not blink. He looked gone.
Parker kept pumping his chest. Someone told her to pump his stomach, and she did. DJ threw up water and started crying.
The ambulance workers rushed in and took him to the hospital. His oxygen level was at 95, which was good.
DJ Shares His Heavenly Experience
At Rapides Women’s and Children’s Hospital, DJ started telling the nurse something amazing. He said he went to heaven and that God is real.
“He looked at me and my husband. He said, No, Daddy, no momma. God is real. I saw him. I saw him and uncle Quimaine,” Parker shared.
Parker and her husband believed in God but did not have a steady church home at the time. Hearing what DJ saw made their faith much stronger. “His story is just so real. Only he can explain it,” said Parker.
DJ was excited to share what happened to him. He said God told him he had “one more life.”
He Wants to Change His Name
The little boy described hearing angels singing and seeing lots of clouds. He was so changed by his experience that he wanted to change his name to Avir, which means air in Hebrew.
When his mother asked why, he said “he was with God in the air.”
DJ told his mother how God looked to him. “God was mixed with every color white, black, even Mexican and he’s just mixed with all colors,” he said.
This made Parker feel that people need to come together instead of dividing and hating each other.
A Miracle Recovery
The doctors gave DJ just one shot in his arm. He needed no other medicine. He had no brain damage, heart damage, or bruised lungs. He only had a little water in his lungs.
Parker wants other parents to learn from what happened. She wishes she had put a life vest on DJ and says all parents should learn CPR.
Most importantly, she wants people to know that God is real because her son is proof. “Get closer to God, you seek him, You shall receive,” she said.
DJ’s story touched many people who heard it. One person wrote, “Out of the mouths of babes!!!! God is revealing himself through his children.”
Another person said, “This the second story I’ve seen today like this, Im praying for more, God is real, Jesus is real!”

All these signs point to one thing – Jesus Christ is coming soon.
We can see many things happening exactly as written in the Bible. In the last days, we’ll witness our sons and daughters prophesy, just as God said.
