Police Officer Spots Hungry Homeless Man, Have Lunch Together

At a time when Americans are growing more and more wary of the police around the country, one police officer decided to do something different when he was photographed having lunch with a homeless man sitting on the side of the road in Madison County, Tennessee.

The photograph taken by Elizabeth McClain, from Jackson, TN, and shared on her Facebook page wrote, “Imagine this you are sitting on the side of the road and for whatever reason everything you own can fit in a backpack. It’s 42 degrees outside you’re lonely and hungry. You put your head down to try and forget the scream of hunger echoing in your mind. Then you hear the sound of an engine stop. You look up to see a uniformed officer walking towards you. Your mind flutters thinking of everything you might be doing wrong. Suddenly this officer sits down pulls out lunch and not only takes away your hunger but your loneliness too.”

She and her friend Patti Crowe Walker witnessed the scene while they were on their lunch break and said that seeing the police do what he did has made a difference in the way she thought about them and hopes all that see the video too will see the police in a different light.

Imagine this you are sitting on the side of the road and for whatever reason everything you own can fit in a backpack….

It touched her heart to see how the police officer went above and beyond and really touched her heart by his action. She adds that people are not aware that tough law enforcement officers too can have a gentle and human side to them. She adds that social media too doesn’t do much to show people the truth about our officers and that this particular Sheriff’s deputy made a huge difference which no one can deny.

Verse of the Day

“[Love Your Enemies] “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.”

Matthew 5:43-45
