A homeless kitten showed up at a hardware store one day and turned into the best employee they ever had.
Emily remembers the day Oatey came into their lives. Her dad was looking out the window when he saw a tiny kitten in the road. The little thing was all by itself. They brought her inside, and that decision changed everything.
Oatey made the hardware store her home. She walks around with customers and makes sure they get what they came for. “She has to be the inspector for everything,” Emily says.
The cat checks on every person who comes through the door. People drive from far away just to see her. When customers check out, Oatey tries to climb into their shopping bags. “Everybody loves her,” Emily says.
But Oatey does have one problem. She loves to take naps during work hours. “We are always having to wake her up and remind her that she’s on the clock,” Emily says with a smile.
This sweet cat has done something special. “She loves being here and we love having her here. She’s just brought the whole community together and she’s made our store the place to go,” Emily shares.
Oatey was lost and alone. Now she has a family and a purpose. That’s what happens when we say yes to the unexpected blessings God sends our way.
