WWII Veteran Asks For 100 Cards For His 100th Birthday, Receives Thousands

It was a heart wrenching moment when a World War II veteran who was about to turn 100 years old asked for 100 birthday cards but received thousands of them.

Joe Cuba lives at Brookdale Midwestern, an assisted living facility in Wichita Falls, Texas. In an effort to celebrate his birthday, the retirement home posted a photo on Facebook of Joe holding a sign that read “I’m a WWII veteran who will be turning 100 on March 2, 2019. I would like to receive 100 birthday cards.”

The photo has since gone viral and he has received more than 2,500 birthday cards and over 100 gifts from people all over the world.

“Joe continues to be amazed with everyone’s generosity. Keep the cards coming as we celebrate a 100 years with GI Joe,” Brookdale Midwestern wrote in an update on Facebook.

Verse of the Day

“having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him.”

Ephesians 1:9-10
