A pizza delivery mistake became a powerful moment of grace when a Colorado family chose prayer over frustration.
How many times have we gotten frustrated over little things? Maybe our online order came wrong, the coffee wasn’t made the way we asked, or someone cut us off in traffic.
Anger takes over and we lash out at the people in front of us without thinking about their feelings or struggles.
Over a small inconvenience, we forget love and kindness and act differently. But what if we could handle those frustrations differently? That’s exactly what one family did.
They turned such a situation into a chance to share the love of Jesus, and their simple act touched the hearts of millions.
A Wrong Pizza Order at the Door
Pastor Neal Seiwert of Castle Rock, Colorado, ordered Papa John’s for his family over the weekend.
Delivery driver Suzanna showed up at their door. But when she got there, she realized she had brought the wrong order.
“I’m sorry, I’m getting old,” Suzanna told the family. She explained that she saw order number 57, but the Seiwerts were actually number 67. “I screwed up. I’m sorry,” she said.
A Simple Act of Kindness Changes Everything
Pastor Seiwert looked at her and said something that changed everything. “Don’t you, for one second, feel bad. We love you and Jesus loves you. And we hope you have a great night.”
Family Prays for the Delivery Driver
Then something beautiful happened. The pastor, his wife, and their three young daughters walked out to the front porch. They placed their hands on Suzanna’s shoulders. And they prayed for her right there. Their Ring camera caught the whole thing.
“When she was explaining herself, I really felt the love of God for her and wanted to do anything I could to relieve any pressure and anxiety she was feeling,” Seiwert explained later.
Seiwert said something that really matters: “I didn’t want her to experience just our family’s love, I wanted her to experience God’s love too.”
His prayer was simple and from the heart. “Jesus, we thank you for Suzanna, and Lord, I thank you that we crossed paths tonight. In fact, Lord, she’s more important than any of these orders tonight because you matter to her. She matters to us.”
He asked God to bless her, to bring healing to her body, to meet her financial needs, and prayed “that she would encounter you and live for you and follow you everything she has, in Jesus’ name.”
A Prayer That Touched Millions Online
The video spread like wildfire. It got over half a million likes on Instagram and over 5 million views. The Seiwerts found Suzanna and asked if they could start a GoFundMe to help her. She said yes.
They set a goal of $25,000. People reached that goal in less than two days.
“So many people are commenting on how it brought them to tears. There are many people who simply just need love,” Seiwert said. He added, “We love. We point to Jesus. It’s often the small moments that we have huge opportunities to reach a broken and hurting world.”
Suzanna’s bosses at Papa John’s told her about the video. “It’s a good thing,” they said.
Can we respond like the Seiwerts when things don’t go our way? Maybe God lets these small moments happen to see how we’ll react.
Instead of getting frustrated, we can slow down and show a little kindness. A kind word, a simple prayer, or even a smile can do more than we think.
What if the next time something goes wrong, we see it as God giving us a chance to show His love?
