A 10-year-old boy from New York walked onto the America’s Got Talent stage with a guitar almost as big as himself and left everyone speechless with his incredible performance.
Before the performance, Bay Melnick Virgolino shared his story. When he was just 5 years old, he saw Slash from Guns n Roses and became obsessed with learning guitar.
He asked his mom for lessons, and his parents became his biggest fans.
“My mom and my dad, they’re my biggest supporters, they’re kind of like…they’re my roadies,” Bay said with a sweet smile.
Then this little guy picked up an electric guitar that was almost as tall as he was. He started playing ‘Are You Gonna Go My Way’ by Lenny Kravitz. What happened next was incredible.
Bay played every note perfectly while singing along. He got the whole audience excited and clapping.
You could see the joy on his face as he performed.
The judges could not believe what they heard. Mel B told him, “I think Lenny Kravitz would be so proud of you. When you got so into it and did all those riffs, I felt it. I really liked that bit, I did.”
Howie Mandel said, “There’s no question, I don’t have to say anything, this audience just said it. You are amazing, you are memorable. You’re like a rockstar.”
Sofia Vergara was just as amazed. “I think that you’re one of the coolest kids I have ever met. At 10 years old. You are a little mini tiny little superstar,” she said.
Simon Cowell felt a personal connection to Bay’s story. “I really can kind of relate. My son Eric has just learned how to play drums. It must be the best feeling win the world for you and your mum and dad right now to be there after that because you’re so good. And you’re having the best time you’ve ever had,” Cowell said.
All four judges gave Bay a yes vote. He ran backstage to his parents and host Terry Crews, who told him millions of people would soon see his performance.
The young boy’s face lit up with wonder at that news.
