A woman in Texas recently celebrated her 107th birthday and shared how her faith kept her going through a century of life.

Life is a gift from God. Seeing someone thrive for over a century reminds us of His grace. We often look for a fountain of youth in diets or pills but we have to remember our days are in His hands. When a person lives this well for this long, we see how faith sustains the body and the soul through every single season.
Cretora Biggerstaff—some call her Tara—was born way back on January 16, 1919. She just had a big party at Paradise Springs to celebrate. She has seen the world change in ways most of us only read about in books. Her family says she is still “all there mentally” and she is the same nana they have known forever.
Cretora does not take the credit for herself though. “I give every credit to the man up above,” she said. She has seen a lot over a century. “I’ve seen a great deal. Some things good, some things bad,” she noted.
Through everything, her faith was the anchor. She told people, “What keeps me going is my faith, I give credit to the good lord.” She feels there is a reason she is still here. She said, “He’s keeping me here for a purpose.”
Her daughter, Sue Tosi, says her mom was never really sick. She never smoked or drank and she stayed very active. She traveled the world and taught her kids to respect each other. Even now, her spirit is tough. “I’m a fighter, I don’t give up,” she said.
Cretora’s story reminds us to trust that God has a specific plan for our lives too. Let’s keep fighting the good fight and stay active in our faith every single day.
“With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation.” — Psalm 91:16
