Comedian Reveals One Personal Choice That Gets the Strangest Reactions

A comedian hilariously shares how a personal choice he made caused people around him to respond in strange ways.

We all have different tastes. What one person loves, another person simply doesn’t, and that is perfectly fine. God made us each unique, and that includes the things we enjoy and the things we don’t. But some people find that hard to accept.

They want us to like what they like, choose what they choose, and live the way they live. And when we don’t, suddenly we owe them an explanation. They nudge, they question, they push, until their habits become our habits and their choices become the only acceptable ones.

Most of us have felt that pressure at some point, and comedian Wali Collins felt it every time he simply said no to a drink.

Collins posted a short clip on YouTube, and it has been making people laugh and nod along ever since. He says it plain and simple: “I tell people I don’t drink, people automatically think something bad happened in my life ’cause I don’t drink alcohol.”

Someone offers to buy him a drink. He says no thanks. And just like that, the questions start flying. “So, uh, you’re an alcoholic. That’s the problem?” He tells them he just doesn’t like the taste. They don’t believe him.

Then they guess drinking and driving must be behind it. When he says he genuinely doesn’t see the point, someone actually asks, “Did you kill somebody?”

Have we ever felt that weight? That moment where a personal choice suddenly needs a full confession just to satisfy someone else’s curiosity?

Collins handles it with humor. But there is something real underneath the laughs. We don’t need a story to explain how we live. Sometimes God quietly steers us away from certain things, and that is reason enough.

Let’s ask God today for the confidence to stand in our own choices without shame, and the grace to stop demanding explanations from others when they simply choose to live differently from us.
