A group of young believers in the Netherlands gathered on a Dutch farmland and worshipped God with a beautiful rendition of ‘Because He Lives.’

A Gathering to Worship Jesus
They sat down in a circle and began to sing with all their hearts to Jesus. No stage, no microphones, no formal setup of any kind. Just a guitar, an accordion and some handheld percussion leading the voices of young believers in the early evening air. The song they chose was one of the most beloved classic Christian songs, ‘Because He Lives.’
Story Behind the Hymn
‘Because He Lives’ was written by Bill and Gloria Gaither in 1971. They wrote it during a time when they were genuinely troubled about the state of the world and the future their children would face. But their faith in the resurrection of Christ carried them through that season and the song came out of that place.
It has been sung in churches ever since because its message speaks to something every believer understands — that we can face whatever is ahead because He is alive.
Growing Faith Movement
These youth gatherings are part of a growing movement in the Netherlands where young Christians meet outdoors in fields and parks to worship together informally. There is no performance involved. They simply come together to sing and share their faith in a setting that feels open and honest.
So when we see something like this it does something to us. It stirs a quiet gratitude that the next generation is not walking away from faith. They are finding their own way to hold onto it.
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” — 2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)
That is the same truth Bill and Gloria Gaither held onto in 1971. And it is the same truth these young people are singing today. God’s word does not grow old and neither does His faithfulness to those who trust in Him.
