Gibbon Becomes Foster Mom to Baby Bird and the Internet Cannot Stop Watching

A gibbon at a New Mexico zoo became an unlikely foster mom for a baby robin that landed in her enclosure, and the video won hearts online.

Eve the siamang gibbon lives at the Albuquerque BioPark and last month something pretty special happened there. A baby robin fell right into her habitat and Eve did not waste any time. She scooped that little bird up and started taking care of it like it belonged to her.

Megan Agena works with the primate care team at the BioPark and she got to see the whole thing unfold with her own eyes. She was grooming it attempting to nurse it and every time it would make a noise she would try her best to comfort it, Agena said.

Eve already has a five year old daughter of her own so I guess you could say she knew exactly what to do.

The BioPark shared a video of it all on Instagram on June 27 and it did not take long before people all over were watching and sharing it.

Eve held on pretty tight to that little robin, maybe a bit too tight if you ask me, but she never stopped being gentle with it. Thankfully the care team was able to step in after a while and get that baby bird back to its real mother who was not too far away.

Now siamangs are actually the biggest gibbons out there and they come from the rain forests over in Sumatra and the Malay Peninsula. They make this loud booming sound using a pouch in their throat and that is how they call out to one another in the wild.

We do not always expect an animal to show that kind of care but Eve sure proved us wrong. It is a good reminder that God put kindness in every creature, big or small. Made me smile just reading about it.
