A mother holding her tiny infant in the backseat of a car recorded a heartwarming moment while singing a famous Brazilian Christian worship song.
The story takes place in a small town named Pinheiros down in Brazil. A young woman named Ana Paula Sampaio was sitting in her parked car with her three month old baby boy, Nathan.
Ana Paula works as a psychotherapist. For three long years, she prayed and waited for a baby. Doctors told her there was nothing wrong with her health, but the nursery stayed empty month after month. She never gave up hope in God’s promises, and little Nathan was her sweet answer to prayer.
While sitting in the car, Ana Paula started singing the famous Brazilian worship song Consagração, written by Marcelo Mattos and Anderson Mattos in 1993 and made widely popular by gospel artist Aline Barros.
The song translates to “Consecration,” and it reminds us to surrender our heart, strength, and glory to King Jesus.
As Ana Paula sang the Portuguese line for “The glory, the honor, the strength and power of King Jesus,” something wonderful happened. Little Nathan stared right into his mother’s eyes and let out a sweet baby coo right when she sang “glória.”
It sounded just like he was trying to say “Glória” right along with her. He hit the pitch so naturally as if he was singing harmony in church.
Watching that sweet baby raise his tiny voice made my heart melt instantly. You can just feel the holy presence of God in that quiet car. It reminds us of Psalm 8:2, where the Scriptures tell us that God equips infants and babies with praise.
What a blessing it is to witness a mother and her miracle child praising our Lord together.
Watching little Nathan join in worship reminds me how we are called to come before our Heavenly Father with a simple child-like heart. That precious baby does not worry about tomorrow or what the day holds. He feels no hindrance or shame in expressing what his heart says.
Let his sweet worship be a gentle nudge for us today. May we all lay down whatever we’re carrying, and come before God with an open, trusting heart.
