Two incarcerated men turned a baptism service into a massive prison worship event when they grabbed the microphones to sing a famous Elevation Worship hit.
The beautiful song they chose is called “I Trust In God” and it was released back in 2023. It was written by talented artists like Chris Brown Steven Furtick Brandon Lake and Mitch Wong.
The message of the track is incredibly comforting for us today. It reminds us that no matter what dark valleys we walk through we can completely lean on the Lord because He never ever fails us. We can always cry out to Him and He will deliver us. This truth is exactly what these men were singing about.
When I sat down and watched this video I was absolutely moved to tears. You can plainly see these men who have obviously made heavy mistakes in their past just pouring their broken hearts out to God. They are standing at the Bridgeport Correctional Facility during a baptism service and they are not holding anything back. My heart was just overwhelmed with joy seeing the entire room cheer and celebrate every single time a fellow inmate came up out of the baptism waters.
God Behind Bars is a dedicated organization that brings church services and hope right inside prison walls across the United States. They organize these incredible events to bring light into very dark places where people often feel abandoned. These men come from difficult roots and rough backgrounds but their greatest achievement today is their identity in Christ. These two men are leading a whole room of their peers in worship and proving to the world that absolutely no one is beyond redemption or God’s love.
I found it very true when I saw this comment on this video, “Some of the best voices, worship leaders, mechanics, thinkers, cooks….are sitting behind prison doors.”
These men are not just singing the song they are leading the whole room in worship and lifting each other up in faith. God is clearly doing amazing things inside those walls and transforming lives from the inside out.
This powerful video reminds us that God can transform any person if they just have that willingness to surrender their brokenness and sincerely call on His name.
“Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, And He saved them out of their distresses. He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, And broke their chains in pieces.” Psalm 107:13-14
