When a talented street performer started singing the viral hit Learn to Meow on a busy sidewalk, his clever ginger cat stole the show by singing along right on cue.
Street musicians often spend hours on busy city corners trying to bring a little joy to passersby. This local Taiwanese busker has built a sweet reputation for performing with his ginger cat cradled safely in his arms. He travels to night markets and busy walkways sharing acoustic songs with anyone who stops to listen.
Performing outdoors is not always easy because crowds can be unpredictable but having his peaceful pet along brings a calm atmosphere to every show. When I first saw the clip I was amazed at how relaxed the animal seemed despite all the people surrounding them.
For this particular set the busker chose the popular track Learn to Meow. The catchy pop song was written by Chinese songwriter Xiao Feng Feng and released back in 2018 featuring singer Feng Timo. It quickly became a massive sensation across social media worldwide because of its cheerful melody and playful lyrics.
As the singer strummed his guitar and sang through the verses the crowd watched with warm smiles. But the real magic happened during the chorus. The famous lyrics translate to “Let us meow together meow meow meow in front of you.” Exactly on cue as the music reached that line the singer lifted the microphone to the cat’s mouth. Without missing a beat the ginger cat meowed clearly right into the sound system.
A few seconds later when the chorus repeated the clever pet did it again! The entire crowd burst into laughter and applause at the perfect timing. I could not help but laugh out loud myself because it felt like the cat had been rehearsing for weeks.
