Man Sneaks Up on Blinded Wild Deer to Save Its Life

A normal morning walk turned into a tense wild animal rescue when a couple spotted a deer with a plastic bag completely stuck over her head.

The husband and wife were out enjoying the crisp fall weather on September 30 in Medicine Hat Alberta when they noticed a wild deer in the distance. But as they got a bit closer they saw something was terribly wrong. A clear plastic bread bag was completely stuck over the animal’s head.

The poor creature was absolutely terrified and struggling to survive. The wife later explained what they saw and it paints a desperate picture. She said “We could see the bag being sucked in her mouth and nose with each breath.” The deer was suffocating and time was running out for this wild animal rescue.

Most of us would have pulled out a phone to call animal control and just hoped for the best. He chose to walk toward the frantic animal instead.

The husband knew he had to do something right then but wild animals are unpredictable especially when they are blinded and scared. If he startled her too much she would bolt into the woods and that would be the end of it. So the man sneaks up on the wild deer very slowly.

The footage shows him carefully creeping up directly behind her while she stood frozen in fear. He waited for the exact right second to make his move. He reached out grabbed the bottom of the plastic bag and pulled it clean off her head.

Once the bag was finally gone the deer paused for just a split second. She took a massive gulp of fresh air and then quickly bounded away back into the safety of the trees.

God gave us a job all the way back in the garden of Eden to be stewards of His creation. That doesn’t always mean passing big laws or doing something that gets on the news. Sometimes being a good steward just means stepping out of your comfort zone on a morning walk to pull a piece of trash off a scared animal.

Proverbs 12:10 tells us that a righteous man regards the life of his animal. We have a real responsibility to look out for the helpless things around us. When we see a need we shouldn’t just walk away and expect someone else to handle it. We need to step up and do the right thing because that is exactly what God called us to do.
