A hardworking delivery driver recently captured hearts nationwide when doorbell footage recorded a quiet act of respect on a veteran family’s porch. This viral doorbell video shows an Amazon delivery driver fixing a tangled American flag and paying tribute in a way that moved an entire community to tears.
The story unfolded on August 10 in Shepherdsville Kentucky. Homeowner Ange Burnett was away at work when her front porch camera sent a security alert to her phone.
When she opened the video feed she expected to see a regular package drop. Instead she watched an Amazon driver named Nativida deliver her box with care.
After placing the package down Nativida was about to walk back to her van when she stopped dead in her tracks. The American flag hanging by the front door had wound tightly around its pole in the afternoon wind.
Without a second thought she paused her busy delivery route and stepped up to fix it. It took her six gentle attempts to unfurl the fabric properly so it could fly free again.
Once Old Glory hung smooth she took a step back stood straight as a pine and rendered a sharp salute right there on the porch walkway.
That quiet moment hit home deep for the Burnett family. Mrs. Burnett husband is a proud military veteran and two of her nephews serve currently in the United States Army. Watching a stranger honor their home and our nation brought overwhelming joy to their hearts.
When local news reporters located Nativida she explained that she grew up as a military brat. Her father served our country so she learned early on to respect the stars and stripes and honor the men and women who put their lives on the line for us.
Scripture reminds us clearly in Romans 13:7, “Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.”
In our Christian life it is so important to pay respect to whom it is due and this sweet woman put those very words into action. She could have simply delivered the package and left. But she went the extra mile for her neighbor without ever knowing anyone was watching.
If we all could show such love to our neighbors how beautiful our world would be. A true neighbor checks on others to see if they are okay, steps up to make things right when something is not right, and loves them like family. That is how God wants us to live every single day.
