California Couple Adopts 93-Year-Old WWII Veteran After Wildfire Burns His House

The devastation of the California wildfires doesn’t seem to end, and now a 93-year-old World War II veteran’s house in paradise has been burned to the ground rendering him homeless.

But thankfully a Northern Caifornia couple has “adopted” him after they found him hanging out in Oroville, about 20 miles to the south.

It was there he met Tracy Grant who was handing out hamburgers in a parking lot filled with evacuees. Brundige told her to save the burger she held toward him for someone else who really needed it.

He said he could sleep in his car, and he wasn’t totally homeless.

“I tried to get him to come home with me the first night and he said, ‘No, my lady days are long gone,”’ Grant said.

But she did not relent and said, “My instinct was, ‘He’s not staying here another night by himself and I’m not taking him to a shelter and I’m not letting him go with another stranger, because there are people out there who take advantage.”

So Brundige has been since living with Grant, her boyfriend, Josh Fox, and their two dogs.

The couple says he can stay as long as he wants.

“These people are angels to me,” Brundige said. “They bought me clothes and everything. I don’t know how I’m going to thank them, but I’m going to try.”

Wow! This couple are real angels and are treating this World War II veteran the way he should be.
