André Rieu and Anna Reker performed a powerful version of ‘Carol of the Bells‘ with 400 brass players to honor the people of Ukraine.

The song was created by a Ukrainian composer named Mykola Leontovych in 1914. Later, in 1936, Peter J. Wilhousky wrote the English lyrics that many people recognize today.
The message of the song is about the joy of the holiday season and the ringing of bells to announce the birth of Christ.
During a concert in Maastricht, André Rieu shared a story about a Ukrainian singer in his choir. He told the audience that he used to believe the song was American until she explained its true origins.
She asked if she could perform it for her country because of the war and the suffering they are facing. Rieu told the crowd, “I immediately said, yes. I hope you all agree.”
Soprano Anna Reker, who was born in Ukraine, joined the Johann Strauss Orchestra and the massive brass ensemble for the performance.
Many people in the audience were visibly moved by the powerful arrangement.
The video of this event has reached over 1.4 million views. Many people who watched it were surprised to learn that the song is actually a Ukrainian carol.
Hope you will love this stunning performance and share it with your friends this Christmas.
