CeCe Winans sings a moving rendition of the classic hymn ‘Great Is Thy Faithfulness’ in her recent official music video.

Some songs never get old. “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” is one of them. Thomas Chisholm wrote it in 1923 and William Runyan put it to music. The words come straight from Lamentations 3:22-23 where the Bible says God’s mercies are new every morning. Over a hundred years later and this hymn still hits the same way it always did.
CeCe Winans has been singing gospel music for decades and there is a reason people still stop what they are doing when she opens her mouth.
In this music video she sings in a quiet church sanctuary with just a pianist and a grand piano. No big stage. No crowd. Just her voice in that room and honestly that is all it needed.
You can hear the weight of those words when she sings them. God is faithful. Not sometimes. Not when things are going well. Always. That is what this hymn has been saying for over a hundred years and CeCe sings it like she means every word.
The song is based on Lamentations 3:22-23 and if you know what the prophet Jeremiah was going through when he wrote those words it makes the hymn hit even harder. He was not writing from a good place. He was writing from the middle of loss and pain and he still said God is faithful. So can we.
We all have moments where we need to hear that again. This video is a good reminder.
